Renter Notice to Vacate

If you are moving and you are a renter you will need to write a renter notice to vacate letter to inform your landlord or property management company that you plan to vacate the apartment or house.

To ensure you get your security deposit back, it's important to give notice that you are leaving in a timely manner.

This form is a tenant notice letter to the landlord when the tenant wants to give notice to vacate and states that the tenant will cooperate with showing the property for re-rental or sale. It includes a place for the tenant to give his forwarding address in order to receive any security refund. It is an excellent way to help reinforce proper move-out procedure. We always staple a copy of this notice to the back of the tenant's lease to be used when the time comes for the tenant to give notice to vacate.

How to inform your landlord that you are moving out:

First find your original rental agreement or rental lease as soon as you know that you will be moving. Review your rental agreement and find out: The name and address of your landlord and property management company, the terms of the lease such as move in date and move out date, penalties for early or late move out, language expaining the 30 day notice they require.
Type your renter 30 day notice letter or use our Free 30 day notice to vacate letter. Make sure your date is at least 30 days or more before you need to vacate the rental property.
Sign the letter and hand deliver it if possible or send the letter with a delivery confirmation so you can track it. A delivery confirmation is usually less than 50 cents from the USPS.
